WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for a Packaging Engineer to design develop and optimize packaging solutions for automotive components and materials. The goal is to create cost-effective sustainable and efficient packaging systems that improve supply chain performance and reduce waste. ** Must be willing to relocate to Warsaw IN. Relocation assistance will be provided **

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Design packaging solutions for automotive components and finished goods ensuring they meet logistics storage safety and durability standards.
Work with manufacturing quality and design teams to identify parts suitable for returnable packaging.
Manage packaging budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
Develop sustainable packaging solutions using CAD tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Collaborate with suppliers to create durable cost-effective expendable packaging.
Conduct business case studies comparing returnable vs. expendable packaging.
Define packaging requirements for new product launches and analyze logistics data to improve supply chain flow.
Optimize packaging internal space utilization and material handling efficiency.
Lead continuous improvement projects focused on lean packaging and ergonomics.
Collaborate with various factory teams to design develop and implement containers and carts for internal factory kitting and sequencing
Research new materials and technologies to improve packaging durability reduce weight and lower costs.
Ensure all packaging solutions meet required specifications and standards before implementation.
Conduct packaging performance testing as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Bachelors degree in Packaging Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
5 years of packaging experience in automotive aerospace or similar industries.
Experience in optimizing returnable and expendable packaging with suppliers.
Proficient in CAD tools for packaging design and optimization.
Knowledge of packaging design materials and logistics optimization.
Familiarity with ISO safety and environmental regulations.
Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of sustainable packaging practices.
