Job Description

The Strait Regional Centre for Education invites applications from qualified candidates for the posted vacancy. Applications frompermanent or probationary contract teachers with the Strait Regional Centre for Education will not be considered for this vacancy.

As part of the public education system in Nova Scotia the Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE)was established on April 1 2018 to deliver the public school program focusing on supporting student learning achievement well-being and overall success. The Strait Regional Centre for Education with the support of approximately 1050 employees works diligently to achieve its mission to empower our children and youth within safe equitable and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible contributing and successful lifelong 2023-2024 the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5981 students; and approximately 375 children are attending pre-primary programs at 14 school locations. Located in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia the Strait Regional Centre for Educations jurisdiction encompasses the counties of Antigonish Guysborough Inverness and Richmond an area of approximately 11000 square kilometres with a population of 53742 (Census 2021 ).

Effective Dates: 08/01/2025 to07/31/2026

Essential Qualifications:

Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia;
Methodology courses experience or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
Excellent classroom and student management skills;
Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies

Red Seal in Welding or other metal fabrication trade;

Teacher must have basic training to teach courses related to the O-2 program;

CPR/First Aid Instructor Training;
In depth knowledge of industrial workplace safety;

WHMIS;
OHS;
Life Work Portfolio Development.

Desirable Qualifications:


Teacher should have connections with the surrounding community and be willing to work with local establishments in order to set up work placements. Teacher will also have to liason with post secondery institutions that will be involved with student visitations and applications.


Your application must include at least three (3) work-related references one must be your most recent supervisor. All candidates short listed for interviews will have references checked prior to being interviewed.

As a condition of employment with SRCE prior to hire all employees must provide current (within 6 mos.) and clear Child Abuse Registry & Criminal Record-Vulnerable Sector check.
