Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected to begin September 2025. Not to exceed 89 days.
This hiring is for up to one temporary position to help with geospatial analysis and updates to the Hawaii Cesspool project and to assist with the WRRC Wastewater Overlay project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Collects organizes and aggregates geospatial data from various sources into a comprehensive Geo-database.
*Assists with conducting geographic analyses to identify areas suitable for sewer system expansion or
centralized treatment systems.
*Creates and maintains geospatial layers representing wastewater collection systems and potential expansion
areas.
*Develops user-friendly maps and tools for public use including GIS-based address query functions on a web
portal.
*Participates in meetings and workshops with stakeholders and refines analyses based on feedback.
*Documents methodologies data sources and ensures publication of code and models.
*Contributes to final project reports.
*Assists with establishing protocols for future data integration into the GIS layers.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in geography or related field.
1-3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities in GIS and web application
or website development or any equivalent combination or education and/or professional work experience
which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Strong working knowledge of GIS.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic
to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective
innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally
and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external
organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and use various relevant programs for word processing
spreadsheet editing and communications.
Demonstrated understanding of water research issues.
Demonstrated ability in preparing reports documents and communications dealing with the research outputs.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet scheduled deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to analyze interpret and use sound logic and judgment when applying administrative
policies and procedures.
