What Youll Do
We are seeking a System Administrator to join our team. The Y12 Field Intelligence Element (FIE) System Administrator must manage the entire IT infrastructure of the FIE and four different levels of security Unclassified/Secret/Secret RD/Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Intelligence (SCI). The System Administrator will collaborate with other teams across the Field Intelligence Element Enterprise within the DOE Intelligence and Counterintelligence complex. This position will work with the FIE Information System Security Manager (ISSM) FIE Information Technology (IT) Manager and others as appropriate.
The selected System Administrator will:
- Install configure and maintain Windows-based classified information systems including hardware and software
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations and organizational standards
- Monitor system performance and security logs to identify and address potential issues.
- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Manage user accounts and access controls
- Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware and software problems
- Coordinate with other IT staff to ensure compliance with security requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and security procedures
- Stay current with the latest security threats and vulnerabilities
- Provide daily operational support and monitoring of existing IT equipment
- Maintain current environments in a safe and secure manner providing patching configuration account management troubleshooting and problem solving as necessary
- Possess demonstrated experience in various IT disciplines including System Administration Network Support and Customer Support
- Establish and provide technical insight and expertise for enterprise-scale IT service design and delivery enterprise systems

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Masters degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline.
- OR 10 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information is required.
- Excellent interpersonal verbal written and presentation communication skills.
Preferred Job Requirements
- Security Expertise: Deep understanding of security hardening vulnerability assessment incident response and compliance with government regulations (e.g. NIST CNSSI ICD) for classified systems
- Windows Administration: Advanced proficiency in Windows Server (Active Directory Group Policy PowerShell)
- Networking & Virtualization: Strong grasp of network protocols firewalls and virtualization technologies (VMware Hyper-V) within secure environments
- Security Hardening: Experience implementing security hardening techniques and tools to protect classified systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats
- Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V in a secure environment
- Scripting: Ability to automate tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell Python or Bash
- Documentation: Strong documentation skills to create and maintain accurate system documentation security procedures and incident reports
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly diagnose and resolve system issues
