PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 27600 - 37600 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a Digital Journalist for BBC Persian youll create and publish engaging content across and social media platforms. Youll collaborate on strategies to grow digital reach and drive traffic with a focus on video and social-first storytelling. A key part of the role is connecting with underserved audiencesespecially women and younger viewersby developing innovative approaches to increase engagement and relevance across all platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Deliver high-quality digital coverage of major Iranian and global news stories ensuring smooth 24-hour output across online and social platforms.
- Produce curate and publish engaging contentincluding video and editorial projectstailored for and social media channels.
- Uphold BBC editorial standards in social media newsgathering ensuring accuracy impartiality and efficiency.
- Develop creative storytelling formats especially for social media to enhance audience engagement.
- Support strategic growth by driving traffic reaching underserved audiences and improving engagement with women and younger viewers.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Strong editorial judgement and proven multimedia journalism experience with the ability to edit translate and repackage video content.
- Deep understanding of social media trends online communities and digital video best practices especially in the Persian-speaking context.
- Skilled in using data and analytics to drive traffic shape content strategy and enhance audience engagement.
- Confident in presenting and voicing video stories with a solid grasp of BBC production methods and editorial standards.
- Able to identify verify and secure user-generated content with a clear focus on reaching younger and female audiences through compelling storytelling.
