Software Development Manager, AWS - Amazon EKS

Were seeking an experienced (and passionate) Software Development Manager to EKS Pulsar team. The team owns multiple components open-source software and customer facing features including: Addons ACK KRO EKSCTL and other platform services projects inflight. You will be part of the EKS Platform Services organization building core components powering thousands of EKS clusters worldwide.

This role combines technical leadership people management and strategic thinking to drive the future of container orchestration and cloud service integration at AWS.

You would own staffing and managing a two-pizza engineering team that will work on creating and operating the fleet of services at scale. You would define product roadmaps build team culture develop best practices and continually improve the overall experience using EKS. The successful candidate will be able to deal with ambiguity have a passion for problem-solving at scale and will need to be operationally/technically strong.

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
