TITLE: OFFICE TECHNICIAN II - TRANSPORTATION (BUS ROUTER)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities.
JOB GOALS:
The Transportation department Office Technician II under the direction of the Director of Transportation coordinates daily bus driving/routing and student pick-up related activities and facilitates communication between School Bus Drivers Transportation department employees and members of the local community.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students parents school staff and the public.
- Operates District radio equipment in order to facilitate communication between Bus Drivers other employees and members of the community as needed to support daily operation of bus routes including extra-curricular activities (such as field trips).
- Performs scheduling activities (including vehicles) in support of all extra-curricular trip requests.
- Serves as an intermediary for communication between parents Bus Drivers and school officials.
- Orders supplies and equipment via the District purchasing tools.
- Submits and processes mileage and maintenance related work orders for all Facilities vehicles.
- Contacts parents to arrange student pick-up in the transportation area when students are unable to meet their assigned bus. Provides supervision for students who are in the transportation area.
- Collects fuel and other Transportation department purchase receipts and submits them to Accounts Payable for processing.
- Tracks fuel levels in the Districts storage tanks and schedules refills as necessary.
- Manages the maintenance cleaning and fueling of white fleet vehicles and ensures readiness of future use. Ensures proper sign-in and sign-out processes are followed for vehicles and fuel cards.
- Responsible for the scheduling and execution of random and annual drug and alcohol screening for all District CDL drivers.
- Performs a variety of office related duties supporting the Transportation Dept.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
- District policies operations and organization.
- Interpersonal skills including tact courtesy and diplomacy.
- Communication (telephone email etc.) etiquette.
- The proper use of the English language.
- District radio communication equipment.
- Techniques and processes related to tracking students locations during the times they are under the responsibility of the Transportation dept.
- Google Suite applications such as Google Forms Sheets Docs Calendar Slides etc.
- Current Bus routes and schedules and driver assignments.
- Related Dept of Transportation safety protocol.
Skill and Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with others and provide a high level of customer service.
- Establish work priorities to meet schedules and timelines.
- Work in a higher pressure environment.
- Calmly and clearly communicate with community members and emergency personnel during emergent situations.
- Maintain all pertinent safety protocols during the transportation of students.

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Transportation in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 12 months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
