You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe staff Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating patients and facilitating rehabilitation and independence. S/he develops and designs treatment plans for physically mentally and/or emotionally disabled patients. The Occupational Therapist enables enhances and improves patients ability to gain independent productive daily living and working environments.
1. Plan organize and conduct occupational therapy programs in hospital settings to help rehabilitate those impaired because of illness injury or psychological or developmental problems.
2. Evaluates and establishes patients physical and mental learning abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic attainable rehabilitation goals within scope of patients disability.
3. Selects educational recreational and social activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.
4. Evaluates patients progress and prepare reports that detail progress.
5. Documents therapy activities and maintains necessary records in patient files assist in the evaluations and rehabilitation of assigned patients medical/psychiatric conditions by conferring with social worker nurses and other disciplines.
6. Trains and educates caregivers how to provide for the needs of the patients during and after therapy.
7. Recommends changes in patients work or living environments that is consistent with their needs and capabilities.
8. Develops and participate in health promotion programs group activities or discussions to promote client health facilitate social adjustment alleviate stress and prevent physical or mental disability.
9. Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities such as vocational rehabilitation or social services based on psychological physical or vocational needs.
10. Plan and implement programs and social activities to help patients learn work and school skills and adjust to handicaps
11. Attends clinic on biweekly basis to assist physicians with evaluation and treatment of clinic patients.
12. Corresponds with insurance companies to gain approval of adaptive equipment.
13. Performs other related duties.
