Job Description

Job Summary:


TheLaboratoryTechnicianplays a crucial role inthe chemical process developing permanent rare earth person is a motivated self-starter who can work as a team with detail-orientation organizationand a desire for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Followslaboratory safety procedures
  • Assistswith and performs routine chemical and metallurgical analysis and reporting.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
  • Reviews analytical results researches any discrepancies andreportsany anomalous results to the lab manager and magnet technology team.
  • Performs routine and non-routine analysis including chemical and magnetic and a wide varietyofproduct process projectresearchand environmental samples from all areas of the operation.
  • Assistsin tracking andmaintainingthe chemical reagent inventory.
  • Cleans andmaintainsworkstation(s) after use to help ensure laboratory instrumentation/equipment is in safe working order.
  • Performance laboratory housekeeping and routine inspections.
  • Prioritizes analytical work with magnet technology team.
  • Activelyparticipatesin the safety management programs and adheres to allappropriate laboratorysafety and operations procedures.
  • Complies withall health environmental and safety regulations company policies processes and procedures.
  • Maintains safe work practices.
  • Completes other tasks as needed.

RoleRequirements:

  • Associate orbachelordegree inchemistry science or electronics related area
  • 2-3 years ofpreviouslaboratory work experience
  • Knowledge or experience related to experimental research andthe scientific method.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments used for materials chemical characterization.
  • Knowledge of rare earth element chemical test methods pulse-field magnetometry and closed-loop magnetometry is desired but notrequired.
  • Knowledge of sample preparation for microstructure analysis.
  • Proficiencywith analyticaltechniquesand instrumentation.
  • Aptitude for hands-on projects.
  • Aptitude for technical problem solving andcritical thinking
  • Computer skills for logging and organizing large data sets

May berequiredto lift and move boxes or packages notexceeding 20 pounds in weight. Some work stress inherent to the position and extended work hours may berequired.

Work Environment:
The work environment will be a mix of a typical office environment laboratory space manufacturing floor and construction site.

Noise level:

Exposure will vary and include normal office noise typical laboratory sounds (e.g. ventilation systems equipment operation) manufacturing floor noise (e.g. machinery forklifts) and construction site noise depending on project phase and location.
