Location: McCarthy Middle School - Grades 7 & 8Position Objective: To assist the Principal in providing leadership and oversight of the students and staff and to assist in planning organizing administering and evaluating the entire school program. Reports To: Middle School Principal Salary & Work Year: Per CAA Contract Job Description: Provide educational leadership and continually develop with the school staff the philosophy goals and objectives of the school and its and supervise the instructional and extracurricular with the staff the educational program methods and materials with the assistance of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & the professional staff aware of innovations and developments in a program of continuous improvement of education in the school consistent with the policies and goals adopted by the School cooperatively with the staff on continuous improvement of instruction through evaluation of staff individual conferences general faculty meetings small group meetings and classroom and direct in-service training programs which include staff meetings workshops committee work and curriculum development and advanced study attendance at conferences and seminars and visitations to other schools by members of the professional that every student receives the attention and special assistance he/she requires at all the school through participation in the activities of local state and national professional organizations and encourage other members of the staff to extend their participation in a similar in the development of the middle school operating budget with the Principal and Department out policies of the School Committee and administrative directives from the Principal and the maintenance of standards concerning students safety health general welfare and behavior rights and in the recruitment and selection of all building personnel certified and non-certified with the assistance of the Principal and Director of the activities of the certificated and non-certificated personnel in the building. Direct and participate in the evaluation of all professional personnel in the high morale of the staff and humane and professional relationships within the school and be available for consultation with teachers students and continuing communications and liaison with parents parent groups civic and community groups to achieve understanding and support for school programs and School Committee policies to the staff students and student discipline and become personally involved in major with the Principal and staff the schools needs with respect to personnel curriculum equipment and school functions athletic events concerts plays such functions as record keeping reporting student accounting and attendance procedures maintenance of up-to-date class lists and a complete file of permanent records for all a master schedule for the implementation of an educational program with optimum use of facilities and decision making process within the school in a team approach to abreast of developments in education through participation in professional organizations visits to other school systems study and professional special projects and other related duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned by the Principal and : DESE Administrative License as an Assistant Principal at the appropriate grade Degree or higher with graduate work in least five years experience in elementary or secondary school teaching with three years experience in supervision and administration preferred. alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable.
