The Opportunity

Audit interns perform risk-based assurance and advisory engagements in the field of business operations/functions finance governance risk management compliance and/or information technology. This opportunity may lead to selection into a two-year development rotational program following graduation. Rotational placings may vary depending on business needs.

The internship is based at USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio TX Plano TX or our Charlotte NC location. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAAs satellite locations.

What youll do:

Our Audit Interns work under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and guidance perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members including the following tasks:

• Complete assigned audit test steps timely and expertly with mentorship and support from the Auditor-in-Charge (AIC)/senior auditors in support of the annual audit plan and/or audit priorities.
• Completes basic audit documentation techniques accountable for own work paper documentation within quality standards timely and accurately.
• Develops an understanding on how to capture and analyze data to perform tasks assigned by AIC.
• Attends and participates in team audit activities such as planning and prioritization business understanding/walkthroughs review of risk assessment and testing for assigned areas of responsibility and demonstrates critical thinking ability and begins early-stage development of expertise (i.e. technology CoSA business line products broadening business acumen).
• Assists in updating the engagement level risk & control matrix with mentorship and support from AIC.

What you need to have:

To qualify you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2026 internship will start on May 27 2026 and last through August 7 2026.

• Graduation date must be in May/June 2027
• Pursuing a bachelors degree in business or relevant field such as Finance Accounting Business or Information Technology.
• 0 to 2 years of audit financial insurance banking information technology or related business experience.
• Foundational and conceptual knowledge of the function/subject area and proven application of knowledge skills and abilities towards work products required.
• Foundational level of business sense in the areas of the business operations industry practices and emerging trends required.

What sets you apart:

• Graduation date May/June 2027

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $20 - $30. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location.
