An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Managerwithin a high-tech Research and Development environment based in Newtown Wales. This position plays a key role in ensuring that products developed for global markets meet all legal technical and regulatory standards.
Working closely with product designers test engineers and external approval bodies the successful candidate will be responsible for driving product compliance with international standards in areas such as electrical safety electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) environmental regulations (RoHS Eco-design) and functional safety.
This Laboratory Managerrole operates within a well-established lab and R&D setting in Newtown Waleswhere maintaining equipment calibration managing documentation and supporting external audits are critical to ongoing approvals and certifications. The lab is a vital resource for conformance testing and is pivotal in achieving CE UL UKCA and other international certifications.
Key Responsibilities for theLaboratory Manager job:
Support development teams by ensuring new products conform to applicable laws and standards.
Liaise with third-party approval bodies to secure certifications.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation and declarations of conformity.
Define and enforce internal conformance documentation standards.
Stay updated on changes to international regulations and industry standards.
Coordinate testing schedules and equipment calibration with lab teams.
Issue and maintain compliance documentation across global projects.
Location: The role is permanently based in Newtown Waleswith occasional travel to meet external stakeholders or support certification activities.
Required Experience and Skills for the Laboratory Manager job:
Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
8 years of experience in product design testing or compliance within electrical/electronic manufacturing.
Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks (e.g. LVD EMC Machinery Directive RoHS).
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience with power electronics and functional safety is highly desirable.
Ability to manage documentation with accuracy and thoroughness.
