Job Description

Job Title: Pharmacist

Specialty: Pharmacy Services - Outpatient Pharmaceutical Care

Site: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center (WWKMHCC)
Location: 100 Lake Traverse Drive Sisseton South Dakota 57262

Duration: 6 Months contract with the possibility of a 6 months extension

Shift Schedule:

  • Typical Work Week: 40 hours (Monday through Friday)
  • Weekday Shift: 9:30 AM 6:00 PM (8 hours with hour lunch)
  • Weekend Shift: 12:00 PM 5:00 PM (5 hours/day)
  • Holiday Coverage: Required; compensatory time may be granted

License / Certifications:

  • Current active unrestricted Pharmacist license from any U.S. state D.C. or Puerto Rico
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Education:

  • Graduation from a state-accredited school of pharmacy

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in the past 36 months
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems

Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy allergies and drug interactions
  • Counsel patients on medication use and document counseling in the EHR
  • Ensure adherence to formulary or non-formulary processes
  • Maintain controlled substance records
  • Support the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model
  • Document consultations in compliance with HIM and IHS policies
  • Comply with CMS IHS and accreditation standards

Administrative & Compliance:

  • Participate in quality improvement programs and pharmacy committees
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy laws
  • Complete medical record documentation within 72 hours
  • Respond to EHR notifications and deficiencies within 1 day

Conduct & Communication:

  • Maintain professional appearance and behavior
  • Engage with patients and staff in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Report security concerns or HIPAA violations
  • Return ID badges and protect government equipment and data

Other:

  • Participate in orientation and complete all required training
  • May work independently or as the sole pharmacist on duty
