Job Description

Position Summary
The Academic Support Specialist is full-time position within the Academic Support for Student Athletes ( ASSA ) Department responsible for providing academic support and guidance to identified athletic teams and student-athletes fostering their educational development and success. This person will serve as the representative for ASSA at the Wister Hall satellite location. The position serves as a mentor for student-athletes helping them navigate academic challenges improve their study skills and develop strategies for time management and exam preparation. The academic mentor will work closely with student-athletes to provide personalized support and encouragement create individualized academic plans and serve as a resource for academic questions and concerns.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Education Psychology or a related field. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Patience empathy and a genuine interest in helping students succeed. Understanding of the environment of college athletics. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree. Experience in university-level tutoring teaching or academic mentoring. Experience working in the collegiate athletic environment.
