These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all Summary:The Paraprofessional works under the supervision of a certified teacher or related service provider to support the academic social and functional development of students in various classroom settings. This role is flexible based on student and program needs and is essential in ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The Paraprofessional plays a key role in reinforcing instruction implementing behavioral strategies supporting daily living needs and enhancing communication among staff and Duties & Responsibilities: Carry out instructional programs and lessons developed by the supervising teacher Assist individual students or small groups in activities initiated by the teacher Reinforce concepts and skills introduced in all learning environments Support students in staying on task and accessing learning tools including assistive technology Implement accommodations and modifications as directed Redirect behaviors and implement behavior management plans Facilitate student interaction and support communication skill development Assist students with daily living needs (e.g. eating grooming toileting) Support mobility positioning and transferring under professional guidance Observe record and report on student progress and behavior Share relevant information with teachers staff and other paraprofessionals as appropriate Assist with clerical tasks classroom setup and equipment organization Supervise students in various settings including recess lunch assemblies and field trips Intervene appropriately during student conflicts or inappropriate behaviorKnowledge Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of curriculum content in assigned classrooms Ability to implement instructional and behavioral strategies effectively Strong communication and observation skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism Collaborative and team-oriented mindset Warm patient and respectful attitude toward all students Commitment to supporting diverse learners Physical and emotional health required to meet job demands Willingness to participate in ongoing professional developmentQualifications & Requirements: High school diploma and passing ParaPro test or Associates Degree (or higher) Experience working with children or students in a school setting preferredEqual Opportunity EmployerLawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
