We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or microbiologist) to join our fast-paced service-oriented Clinical Pathology Laboratory. This position provides primary technical support in the clinical microbiology area of the laboratory with additional support provided in the areas of immunology and accession receiving. This position performs technical clinical laboratory responsibilities in support of the 24/7 needs of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC). Join us and make a real difference in patients and their owners lives!
The anticipated schedule for this role will be Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 5:30pm with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. The incumbent will also be scheduled every 2nd or 3rd Saturday from 8:00am-10:00am. Schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
Provide support in the main laboratory accession receiving area

$21.00 per hour minimum

Strong computer skills
Effective communication organizational interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to work as an effective team member
Experience working in clinical laboratory diagnostics
Knowledge of principles and procedures used in microbiology accession receiving and laboratory safety
Familiarity with a variety of modern clinical laboratory instrumentation to include performance of maintenance procedures
Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance practices and procedures
Seeking experience working with clinical microbiology samples and cultures
Solid understanding of clinical laboratory concepts and protocols in microbiology and immunology
Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures
High School Diploma Required
Associates Degree Preferred
Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Certification Preferred
