Job Description

Title: Site Assistant
FLSA: Part-time Seasonal
Department: SF Scholars
Reports To: Manager of Program Operations
Compensation: $20 (Hourly)
Location: In-Person UC Law campus in San Francisco
Dates: Fall Semester; 9/6-12/14

There will also be future opportunities for Spring and Summer semesters.

ABOUT SEO SCHOLARS

Founded in 1963 during the Civil Rights Movement SEO closes educational and career opportunity gaps for 7000 ambitious young people annually.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Site Assistant assists in the execution of SEO Scholars Summer Academy operations including technology maintenance and troubleshooting.

DATES SCHEDULE & WEEKLY HOURS

Orientation: More details regarding orientation logistics will be provided when onboarded.

Fall Saturday Academy: Typically 3 Saturdays per month.

  • 13 Saturdays:
    • 09/6 09/13 09/20 09/27 10/04 10/11 10/18 11/01 11/08 11/15 11/22 12/06 12/13
  • Schedule:
    • Saturday 8:00 am-4:30 pm with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break and two paid 10-minute breaks. Any additional hours beyond 8 hours would need to be approved.

SITE LOCATIONS:

Saturday Academy Programming will take place at:

  • UC Law campus: 200 McAllister St San Francisco CA 94102; off the Civic Center BART stop

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Site Assistant you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our technology-driven educational environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing morning set-up for Saturday Academy including check-in materials and program supplies.
  • Facilitating the scholar check-in process including efficiently utilizing attendance tracking systems to accurately record and report student attendance absences and tardies.
  • Overseeing distribution of breakfast snacks and lunches for all scholars.
  • Managing the distribution of technology (laptops headphones hotspots etc.) to students and instructors maintaining accurate records of permanent and/or borrowed devices and other SEO owned equipment.
  • Diagnosing troubleshooting and resolving Chromebook issues reported by students promptly ensuring optimal functionality and reporting to SEO IT if devices are not meeting that expectation.
  • Providing technical support for on-site A/V equipment (projectors sound systems and related components) used by instructors ensuring classrooms operate smoothly without technical challenges.
  • Overseeing program site cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Supporting end-of-day closing procedures including moving program materials to storage and replenishing snacks and supplies.
  • Contributing to the overall production of program operations by executing general program support including delivering materials to classes providing technology support and executing other necessary errands.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills detail orientation and ability to multitask and handle changing priorities.
  • Sound judgment maturity and ability to communicate and serve as a role model to high school students.
  • Highly resourceful and solutions-oriented with the ability to diagnose issues and ensure timely problem resolution.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team player capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues and educators to ensure the smooth functioning of the program.
  • Move lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height.

An ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

  • An avid interest in technology or computer science or an ambition to pursue a future role in the field of information technology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with various technology tools including Google Workspace ChromeOS Chromebooks barcode scanners classroom A/V equipment and other technology.

This position averages 10 hours per week. The compensation listed reflects what SEO believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law compensation will be determined based on the skills qualifications and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position and SEO reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

This position is benefits ineligible in accordance with local state and federal regulations.
