POSITION SUMMARY

IT Business Analyst I

The IT Business Analyst I works in partnership with City employees across departments divisions and workgroups as well as external entities to deliver strategic business objectives to achieve improved efficiency and productivity. The incumbent will have a background in relationship building collaboration communication and customer service with the ability to learn adapt and manage projects effectively. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify and solve complex business problems manage customer interactions and drive process improvements to complex business problems. They will serve as the primary partner between departments and the IT department on select projects in delivering effective and innovative services. Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs improve efficiencies or services provided by other departments divisions and external entities. Develop and implement ideas to improve business practices and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILTIES

The description below is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific job assignments duties and environmental conditions will vary depending on the business need of the department and the particular assignment.

IT Business Analyst I

Documentation and Business Solution Analysis (10%)
  • Analyze business requirements develop innovative solutions and create reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Conduct detailed business analysis to identify the business needs of stakeholders.
  • Design and implement advanced strategies for gathering reviewing and analyzing data requirements.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of application system dependencies to aid in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of issues.
  • Elicit organize and document business essentials.
  • Document work procedures and business prerequisites.
  • Identify system enhancements document business needs and determine impact to current processes.
  • Translate business needs into user stories and technical requirements.
  • Analyze business requirements develop innovative solutions and create reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
Process Improvement and Implementation (10%)
  • Use Business Process Modeling techniques and tools to create business processes.
  • Lead and monitor execution of key process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and drive process improvement initiatives to achieve measurable productivity results.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in business processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Continually look for ways to innovate standardize and improve efficiencies.
Project Management and Coordination (10%)
  • Coordinate and manage projects including planning execution and monitoring progress. Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee vendors as needed to provide guidance and ensure that project team members are meeting their objectives and deadlines.
Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management (15%)
  • Act as a liaison between the business analyst team and other departments vendors and stakeholders. Ensure clear and effective communication to align project goals and expectations.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for issues and procedures to fashion solutions.
Technical Support and Training (50%)
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the team and other departments. This includes troubleshooting issues and coordinating with IT for solutions.
  • Conduct training sessions for team members and end-users on applications and new software solutions.
  • Develop in-depth application knowledge of assigned applications.
  • Develop expertise in the administration and upgrade procedures of assigned applications.
  • Stay up to date on assigned applications.
  • Stay up to date on new technology trends and innovations.
  • Maintain least privilege application security.
  • Leverage data analysis to extract meaningful insights.
  • Monitor ticket queues to ensure timely response and resolution of issues
  • Manage escalations and ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Evaluate and improve customer satisfaction metrics
  • Maintain SLAs and ensure compliance with support standards
  • Develop and maintain help desk procedures knowledge base articles and SOPs

Education:
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field
  • An equivalent combination of education technical certifications and relevant job experience may be substituted.
Work Experience:
  • 0 - 3 years of experience of leading projects problem-solving process modeling and workflow analysis project management reporting technical support.
  • 1 - 5 years of experience demonstrating adaptability analytical thinking collaboration communications and customer service.
Required Certifications and Licensures:
  • CJIS Certification (may be obtained upon hire)

Certifications and Licensures:

  • None required

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a standard office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time and occasional light lifting (up to 15 lbs.). Job requires visual and physical capabilities to perform work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time (4-6 hours daily).

SALARY RANGE

IT Business Analyst I:$66966 - $100448/Annual Payrate

IT Business Analyst II:$75671 - $113507/Annual Payrate

IT Business Analyst III:$85508 - $128263/Annual Payrate
