Job Summary
Portland magazine University of Portlands award-winning alumni magazine is looking to hire an editorial intern for the Fall 2025 semester. This position is an opportunity for those interested in gaining valuable skills in the fields of narrative journalism storytelling and magazine editing. The editorial intern will get an inside look at the creation of Portland magazines content (both print and online). The person in this position will have the opportunity to hone researching reporting interviewing writing and editing skills. The intern will also find opportunities to grow in an understanding of voice narrative structure and craft audience(s) and multi-channel story deployment strategy. The position reports to Jessica Murphy Moo the Editor of Portland Magazine & Director Storytelling. Application Requirements: Along with your application please submit a portfolio consisting of three writing samples: news profile feature writing or something youve written for a class. The hiring manager will send candidates a short proofreading test.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent writing editing and proofing skills A demonstrated curiosity about UP and an interest in covering a variety of stories Detail oriented organized and deadline focused with an ability to work independently on assigned stories Must be comfortable interviewing people in many different situations Must have an openness to collaboration and feedback
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in pursuing a career in the fields of journalism storytelling or magazine editing
