Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior M365 and Azure Cloud Architect to lead the architecture implementation and governance of our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments. The ideal candidate is a proven expert in Microsoft cloud technologies with deep experience designing secure scalable and integrated enterprise cloud solutions. This role will drive digital transformation initiatives hybrid infrastructure enablement and enterprise-level security across the Microsoft stack.
This position will be based onsite at Vertivs Westerville OH - HQ location.
Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Strategy
- Architect and deploy enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure solutions including virtual networks compute storage governance and automation.
- Design and implement Azure Landing Zones hybrid networking and scalable multi-subscription environments.
- Build and manage Azure infrastructure as code using Bicep ARM templates Terraform and GitOps practices.
Microsoft 365 Platform Leadership
- Architect deploy and optimize the full functionality of the Microsoft 365 E5 suite ensuring seamless integration and operational maturity.
- Lead enterprise deployment and integration of the Microsoft 365 E5 suite including Exchange Online SharePoint OneDrive Teams Defender (MDE MDI MDO) and Purview.
- Integrate and manage third-party apps and SaaS solutions within the M365 ecosystem.
- Define enterprise policies for data loss prevention email protection encryption and user lifecycle governance.
Identity Access & Security
- Architect Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) with expertise in federation IDP management hybrid identity Conditional Access and PIM.
- Implement and manage Azure RBAC resource locks MFA and Just-in-Time (JIT) access.
- Design zero-trust-based architectures across cloud and hybrid endpoints.
Security & Compliance
- Design implement and configure email authentication and protection protocols including DMARC DKIM SPF and anti-phishing technologies.
- Define and implement security configurations across M365 including Purview PIM Defender suite (MDE MDO and MDI) and cloud app protection.
- Govern compliance and data protection using Microsoft Purview Microsoft Sentinel and Azure Security Center.
- Lead Azure ARC deployments for hybrid/on-prem server and Kubernetes cluster management.
- Architect and secure Azure tenants and subscriptions including logical access controls and boundary security.
Endpoint & App Management
- Oversee enterprise management using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot for application control configuration profiles and endpoint security.
- Integrate Azure Application Proxy and Entra App Connect for secure hybrid application access.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal security infrastructure compliance and development teams to translate business needs into secure cloud solutions.
- Lead architecture reviews risk assessments and technical decision-making for Microsoft cloud initiatives.
- Mentor cloud engineers and junior architects; establish technical standards and governance documentation.
- Serve as a senior technical escalation point and subject matter expert for M365 and Azure-related projects.
Responsibilities:
- 8 years of experience in enterprise IT architecture with a focus on Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Proven success deploying Microsoft 365 E5 and Azure at scale in hybrid or cloud-first organizations.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft 365 E5 architecture and administration.
- Deep understanding and hands-on of Azure infrastructure and security identity governance and compliance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management especially Microsoft Entra ID and federation.
- Familiarity with email authentication protocols (DMARC DKIM SPF) and advanced email security.
- Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID PIM Intune Purview Defender suite (MDE MDI MDO) and Azure ARC.
- Experience with Intune for device and application policy management.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code scripting (PowerShell Azure CLI) and DevOps pipelines.
- Experience working in high-security environments or regulated industries (e.g. finance healthcare defense).
- Background in zero-trust architecture and cloud security best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Candidates holding any of the following certifications will be strongly preferred:
