About Adanac Park Lodge (APL):

Adanac Park Lodge (APL) is a regional Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Long Term Care (LTC) program specializing in providing care to younger adults (19-65 years) with complex health and behavioral needs. APLs unique population of focus is younger adults who have concurrent Mental Health Substance Use and/or Acquired Brain Injury; and who often have co-existing physical developmental and/or chronic health conditions. Clients who may be considered for admission are between19 and 65 year of age. Residents may reside at APL for as long as they require the specialized services / environment to meet their care needs up to an including end of life care. APL has a diverse inter-disciplinary team who collaborate with residents and families in their care and on meaningful goals and accordance with the vision and values of the organization APLs approaches & principles include; Person Centered Care; Trauma Informed Care; Recovery in MH; and Community Engagement.

As a Secretary/Receptionist you will:

  • Work in a team-based environment and perform a variety of secretarial and other related clerical functions.
  • Act as a receptionist greet and direct visitors and residents answer telephone calls provide information as appropriate and/or redirect as necessary.
  • Arrange meetings distribute agenda packages prepare and circulate minutes and conduct follow-up on actions as a result of the meetings as needed.
  • Assist clinical and administrative staff with ongoing initiatives projects and the maintenance of various statistical information/reports implementing approved processes when needed.
  • Type a variety of technical and non-technical material from verbal instruction handwritten draft and/or through revision of documents by effectively using electronic and manual systems applicable to the job including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Access and PowerPoint) Visio EPro and applicable resident information electronic systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of related procedures and the use of office equipment in order to contribute to the smooth and effective functioning of the program.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to keyboard at 55 w.p.m.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Closing Statement

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
