Assignment:Ellensburg High School
English Language (EL) Paraeducator - 6 hours per day Temporary25-26 School Year
The job of this Paraeducator is done for the purpose/s of assisting assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of students performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with Limited English Proficient students and / or identified Migrant students.
Essential Functions
- Administers tests helps with assignments make-up work etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Assists students individually or in groups with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
- Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
- Guides students in independent study (e.g. enrichment work remedial work etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student success.
- Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher(s) instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students academic success through a defined course of study.
- Maintains instructional materials and/or student files/records (e.g. adapting instructional materials cleaning work areas checking papers taking attendance audio visual equipment set up art/science projects etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
- Monitors individual students and/or groups of students in classroom library playground activities crosswalks etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
- Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. student records daily progress charts correcting papers copying preparing instructional materials etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or in providing necessary records/materials.
- Supports electronic translation for the purpose of assisting students teachers and parents in communicating in both English Spanish or other language as needed.
Other Functions
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
- Proficient in verbal and written language for English (Spanish preferred not required
- Adhering to safety practices
- Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform:
- Basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios
- Read a variety of manuals write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information to others; and understand complex multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
- Instructional procedures and practices;
- Migrant Education program supports to assure academic achievement

Experience: Job related experience is desired.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
New applicants and current employees out of classification:
- AA (or higher) degree or completion of 2 years of secondary education(72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits).
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
- Successfully complete a skills assessment test in the subjects of mathematics grammar spelling language and reading.
