Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide essential language services to deaf and hard of hearing students across elementary middle and high school this role you will be responsible for delivering IEP-mandated related services focusing on individual language goals and the development of spoken language skills. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and effective learning environment and possess the basic American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills necessary to connect with and instruct students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct individualized and small-group speech-language therapy to deaf and hard of hearing students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Develop and implement treatment plans focused on improving expressive and receptive language speech production auditory training and overall communication skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers special education staff educational audiologists and families to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to each students education.
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings to help determine eligibility develop present levels and establish measurable annual goals.
- Monitor and document student progress preparing regular reports on achievements and challenges for parents and the educational team.
- Utilize and model basic ASL to support instruction facilitate understanding and foster an inclusive classroom environment.
- Stay current with best practices and evidence-based methodologies in speech-language pathology for the deaf and hard of hearing population.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred; Clinical Fellows (CFY) are encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience working with school-aged children preferably with deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Demonstrated basic proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); formal ASL training or certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of the IEP process and experience providing services within a school setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
