Job Description

Description

The Corder Research Group in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Tennessee Knoxville is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research associate. The researcher will be primarily responsible for implementing advanced methods of rheological analysis in the study of soft matter systems including polymer composites gels and dense particulate suspensions.

The appointment is for one year with an anticipated start date of 9/1/2025. If additional grant funding is secured the appointment could be extended for up to a total of three years.



Responsibilities
  • Implement advanced methods of rheological analysis in the study of soft matter systems
  • Collect and analyze experimental data
  • Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Assist with proposal writing
  • Assist in the training of graduate and undergraduate researchers


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A PhD in chemical or materials engineering (or a related field) completed prior to the start date.
  • Experience with experimental rheometry as demonstrated by at least one first-authored publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced rheological measurement techniques (such as Fourier Transform rheology Sequence of Physical Processes or time-resolved mechanical spectroscopy).
  • A strong track record of publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Interest in studying soft matter systems.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
