About the opportunity
The School of Dentistry has over 100 years of excellence in providing education and training in dentistry and oral health. We are seeking a Digital Dentistry Technician to support students and staff in the use of digital dental technologies. This role plays a key part in maintaining and managing digital equipment such as intraoral scanners 3D printers and CAD/CAM systems while also supporting the design manufacture and implementation of digital restorations surgical guides and prosthodontic devices. The technician will also contribute to teaching curriculum development and research ensuring the seamless integration of digital workflows across all student cohorts.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
provide specialist technical and educational support to Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DCD) students and staff in the use of digital technologies within the School of Dentistry
deliver theoretical and practical teaching including lectures demonstrations and workshops on digital workflows CAD/CAM design and manufacturing processes
manage and maintain advanced digital equipment including intraoral scanners 3D printers milling machines and benchtop scanners across multiple sites (Bligh SDH and WCOH) ensuring compliance with WHS and infection control protocols
assist students in the design and fabrication of digital restorations such as crowns bridges dentures surgical guides and splints
support the development and delivery of curriculum content and assessments aligned with the schools strategic goal of a comprehensive digital curriculum by 2027
contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for staff and external clinicians
contribute to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Procedural/Clinical Skills Community of Practice
About you
Tertiary qualifications in Dental Technology
advanced dental technical skills particularly in relation to all aspects of removable prosthodontics and aspects of fixed prosthodontics and an awareness of Procera applications
extensive experience in digital dentistry including proficiency with design software (3Shape Exocad) and CAD/CAM manufacturing
build and maintain close collaborations with academic and clinical staff industry partners and LHD stakeholders to ensure best practice and innovation
excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively manage multiple tasks meet deadlines navigate diplomatically to resolve problems and achieve the required outcomes and effectively deliver results
willing and able to travel between Sydney Dental Hospital Westmead Centre for Oral Health and the Dental Simulation Clinic in Camperdown.
