About the role:
Lifeguards are responsible for supervising and overseeing guests in aquatic locations and acting immediately to ensure the safety of guests in the event of an emergency.
Lifeguards provide water rescue first aid administering oxygen and emergency care and treatment as required. Lifeguards need to enforce safety rules and pay close attention to swimmer activities and behaviour. Lifeguards are to maintain exceptional guest service and professionalism whilst assisting the guests to ride the attractions safely.
Position options available include Lifeguard Junior Lifeguard and Shallow Water Lifeguard dependant on age and swimming ability levels.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide constant supervision of the general public and prioritising guest safety at all times.
- Ensure all aquatics and attractions areas are always supervised and that all policies and procedures are being followed.
- Adhere to the Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) protocols and training standard.
- Ensure the parks Keep Watch policy is enforced ensuring children are supervised by a parent or guardian.
- To provide high quality service to all visitors to Raging Waters Sydney.
- Ability to complete Dispatch Smart training by Alive Solutions and follow all attraction operating procedures restrictions and guidelines.
- Responsible for identifying problems and displaying authority in dealing with the General Public.
- Recognise problems and make decisions to help resolve the problem. Effectively communicate serious nature problems to the Head Guard.
- Relay accurate information and advice to Guests in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Listen to Guests and offer options available to meet their needs.
- To ensure that all guests and team members abide by the policies and procedures determined by the Management team.
- Apply rescue and resuscitation techniques when required as well as administer first aid when required.
- To attend and participate in all in-service training sessions.
- Report any faults that arise during the day. Monitor the technical equipment for any machinery failure and maintenance required.
- To assist in the opening and closing procedures and the clean and tidy presentation of the park.
- Assist with general cleaning of the park and grounds as seen to be necessary and as directed.
- Responsible for assisting with park cleanliness including sweeping rubbish pick-up clearing and cleaning tables emptying rubbish bins maintaining picnic areas maintaining birthday & cabana areas work areas and restrooms. Assist with pressure washing as required.
- To carry out all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Guard Operations Supervisor Operations Manager Director of Operations or member of the Management Team.
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS):
- Follow and comply with Work Health Safety policies procedures and guidelines.
- Correctly use all safety and personal protective equipment.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours.
- Report WHS incidents injuries and safety activities to your direct Manager and First Aid at the time it occurs.
- Promote proactive hazard/ near miss reporting. Report any hazards or near-miss incidents to your direct Manager and the People & Culture Director.
- Attend Work Group Meetings to discuss and promote safety.
Requirements
Education:
Essential
- Ellis & Associates Lifeguard License (this training is provided by Raging Waters Sydney)
- Dispatch Smart Training (this training is provided by Raging Waters Sydney)
- Current Working with Children Check
Languages: Fluent English

Desirable
- Experience working within a Water Park environment.
- Experience working in the Aquatics Industry.

- Must be 16 years of older for Junior Lifeguard position.
- Must be 18 years or older for Lifeguard position.
- Must be physical fit with professional enthusiastic attitude and appearance.
- Ability to work flexible working hours including but not limited to weekends evenings and public holidays.
- Must be available to work a minimum of twice per week during the peak season.

- Be able to work in all weather conditions including sun and rain hot and cold climates indoor and outdoor work.

Swimming requirements:
- Shallow water Lifeguards need to be able to swim 50 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting.
- Lifeguards need to be able to pass swim 200 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting.
- All lifeguards need to be able to perform a feet first surface dive up to 1.8 metres to retrieve a 5kg brick.
- All lifeguards need to be able to tread water without using arms for two minutes.
Smoking in the workplace is allowed in designated smoking areas only where permitted by the applicable legislation of the jurisdiction.
You are required to have a high level of physical fitness stamina and be physically fit. Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

Pay Conditions:
This is a casual position from October to April with the need to work flexible hours including weekends evenings and public holidays during the season.
Must be available to work a minimum of twice per week during the peak season 15 December 2025 to 1 February 2026.
The hourly rates are in accordance with the Amusement Events and Recreation Award.
Lifeguard aged 20 years or older are paid at a Grade 3 hourly rate of $26.70 per hour plus 25% casual loading ($33.38 per hour includes casual loading).
Different rates apply for applicants 19 years of age and under.
Penalty rates apply for Sundays and Public Holidays.
