SUMMARY
Supervise health specialists and to coordinate all health services in the district in order to provide optimum health care for each student; coordinate the district homebound program.

Essential duties and responsibilitiesmayinclude but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee the health services program for the district; supervises all district health assistants in conjunction with the school principal. To provide leadership and maintain the operation of the health services program; responsible for managing the administrative aspects of the health services program.
- Provides leadership guidance advice & assistance to schools regarding the implementation of district safety policies & procedures concerning daily operational practices in an effort to manage current situations & minimize future incidents.
- Manages development implementation & review of district-wide mitigation plan related to health protocols.
- Develops and standardizes all school enrollment procedures with regard to mandated immunization policies and initial screening procedures for new students.
- Coordinates training sessions as necessary to ensure staff and students are following health and safety protocols.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of current legislation regulations policies & procedures that affect school district safety compliance analyzes & interprets applicable existing & proposed federal state & local laws & makes recommendations to ensure district-wide adherence to requirements.
- Annual review and updates of school and building health mitigation policies procedures and protocols such as blood borne pathogens
- Ensure that any student that falls under the federal Child Find has their vision and hearing completed within the 45-day time frame with results put on the 45 Day Screener and put in Synergy immediately following screening.
- Ensure that all students have yearly vision and hearing screening completed with results put into Synergy immediately following screening.
- Ensure that school health aides follow and fulfill special education student Individual Education Program (IEP) services.
- Ensure school health assistants attend any special education meetings where their attendance is needed or requested.
- Conducts in-service education and employee orientation through staff meetings and individual conferences to ensure all recommended and required trainings are completed annually.
- Coordinates student health services program components (e.g. medical waste removal from sites maintenance and calibration of all medical equipment crisis planning budget requests supply ordering health assistant meetings etc.) for the purpose of delivering services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements for a comprehensive school health program.
- Conducts site visits for the purpose of providing consultation to health assistants and school administrators regarding complex health situations.
- Represents health services staff on the district level for the purpose of serving as a spokesperson for the district; works with the district emergency response team regarding emergency response procedures and preparedness.
- Performs personnel functions (e.g. recruiting interviewing hiring supervising evaluating etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing; enhancing productivity and ensuring standards are achieved and performance maximized.
- Administers first aid medication mandated screenings and specialized medical treatments as dictated by program needs (e.g. oral suctioning catheterization etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill medically fragile and/or injured children.
- Assesses situations involving students safety abuse (physical sexual drug etc.) and other health related issues for the purpose of identifying problems referring for proper treatment and complying with legal requirements.
- Develops and implements individualized health care plans and Emergency Care Plans for students with health problems (e.g. IEPs IHPs Least Restrictive Environment medications prioritized interventions etc.) for the purpose of meeting the needs of students with chronic health problems and/or accommodation requirements.
- Collaborates with parents students health care providers and/or state/county/local agencies for the purpose of promoting and/or securing student health services providing information and implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
- Develop and maintain district health services guidance manual forms and communication.
- Monitors students referred for illness and/or injury and chronic illnesses and/or communicable diseases for the purpose of attending to their immediate health care concerns initiating follow-up care and assisting the child in achieving the highest possible functional level.
- Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports for the purpose of documenting activities and issues meeting compliance requirements providing audit references making presentations and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
- Serves as a resource to nurses teachers staff and administrators for the purpose of conveying information providing support and guidance and assisting the development and evaluation of health services.
- Responsible to maintain and evaluate the health services department to ensure compliance with state federal and district regulations and policies; researches and stays current with health and safety issues for the purpose of providing information to staff students parents and the public.
- Reinforce the need for completing daily self-assessments for symptoms of illness.
- Monitor and communicate information from the Center for Disease Control Arizona Department of Health Service and the Yuma County Health Department.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Training and Experience Guidelines
- Registered Nurse or BSN with current Arizona license and ability to obtain Arizona School Nurse certification.
- Current Registered Nurse license required.
- Two years experience in the nursing profession preferably one year minimum in public schools.
- Ability to work harmoniously with children and adults.
- Well organized and able to do extensive planning.
- Three years supervisory/administrative experience
Knowledge of:
- District and Department policies and procedures;
- Working knowledge of fundamental operations of relevant software and other equipment.
- Office procedures methods and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing spreadsheets and databases;
- Pertinent local state and federal laws ordinances codes and rules.
Skill in:
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Use of computers and technology to include but not limited to email internet Microsoft Office or equivalent software.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid State Drivers License may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout the district and in a standard office environment.
Positions in this class typically require use of hands talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and staff.
