Job Description

Job Title: Controller & Operations Support Manager
Location: New Jersey (onsite preferred/Hybrid)
Industry: Commercial Construction Specializing in Windows and Doors
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience plus benefits
Type: Full-Time Exempt

Company Overview:
We are a well-established privately held window and door fabrication and installation company with a strong presence in the New Jersey public works sector including a robust portfolio of projects with New Jersey school systems. With annual revenues of approximately $20 million and a 35-year reputation for quality integrity and on-time delivery we are seeking a highly capable individual to step into a hybrid role that combines financial management with a hands-on operational perspective.

Position Summary:
The Controller & Operations Support Manager will be responsible for the full cycle of financial management including accounting budgeting financial reporting and internal addition to core financial duties this role will collaborate with the owner and key department heads to improve operational efficiency job costing accuracy and workflow between estimating project management and production. The ideal candidate has strong construction or manufacturing accounting experience and is comfortable working in a dynamic hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management (70%)

Oversee and manage the daily accounting operations (GL AP AR payroll job costing).
Prepare timely and accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships.
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Manage job cost accounting and monitor project profitability.
Work closely with estimators and project managers to validate cost projections.
Supervise a small accounting staff or external bookkeeping resources as applicable.
Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Prepare for and manage year-end financial audits and tax filing coordination with CPA.
Operational Support (30%)

Collaborate with the owner and COO to support operations planning and execution.
Improve reporting and dashboard tools for project performance tracking.
Identify inefficiencies in purchasing inventory management and job costing workflow.
Participate in production planning and cost containment initiatives.
Help implement ERP or accounting system improvements as needed (e.g. QuickBooks etc).
Oversee financial components of public works compliance such as certified payroll state audits prevailing wage tracking and lien releases.

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
Minimum 5 7 years of experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant in construction manufacturing or a related field.
Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks software).
Strong understanding of job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.
Hands-on experience with cash flow and budget management.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Must be organized detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred:

CPA or CMA designation.
Experience working with New Jersey public works projects.
Familiarity with certified payroll and public contracting compliance requirements.
Experience supporting operational workflows (inventory production field coordination).
