Position Overview:
The IT Technician Entry Level will report directly to the Lead IT Technician to support day-to-day IT operations at our satellite teleport facility. This role is ideal for someone starting their IT career with a strong interest in networking systems support and hands-on troubleshooting in a mission-critical environment. The technician will assist in maintaining the sites IT infrastructure including desktops servers and network hardware ensuring continuous support for teleport operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level support for hardware software and network-related issues.
- Install configure and maintain PCs laptops printers and other peripheral devices.
- Assist with the setup monitoring and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and escalate when necessary.
- Support basic server maintenance tasks (Windows/Linux environments).
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations procedures and IT assets.
- Assist teleport engineering staff with IT-related integration of RF/telecom systems.
- Respond to IT support tickets in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow all security safety and operational protocols.
Qualifications:
Required
- Associates degree in information technology Computer Science or related field or 2-4 years experience in IT field.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP DNS DHCP and switching/routing concepts.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware/software issues.
- Willingness to work in a physical/technical environment including server rooms and outdoor equipment enclosures.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience in network administration or tech support.
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell Bash).
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A Network or CCNA.
- Exposure to satellite RF or telecom environments.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work around RF equipment.
- Requires occasional evening/weekend support depending on operational needs.
