POSITION TITLE: Communications Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Communications GRADE: 3 FLSA: Non-Exempt FTE: 1.0
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Assists in the creation of library communications materials and the promotion of library events library-produced media and services to both internal and external audiences.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager

SALARY: $17.50-18.90 per hour depending on experience

Can write effective compelling promotional copy
Are well-organized and can perform multiple tasks in a busy environment
Have a strong interest in videography and photography skills for telling effective stories
Can tell a unified story across multiple marketing channels
Can design and create a variety of compelling promotional materials using Adobe Creative Suite and other professional tools
Know how to make the librarys social media pages indispensable to our patrons
Can create a catchy meme as easily as you can record a must-see Instagram video
Can work independently but are also an enthusiastic team player
then we have a great job for you! As a Communications Coordinator you will play a key role in helping Mesa County Libraries enrich lives and build community through opportunities to learn discover create and connect.

SCHEDULE:
Unpaid meal break of at least hour per shift to be taken for each 5 hours scheduled. Typical schedule is Monday Friday. Some evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach opportunities or other library-related assignments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists with all aspects of library marketing and communications including creation and development of graphics for Mesa County Libraries; design and creation of various promotional materials; posting to social media accounts to achieve maximum effectiveness; writing and editing copy for promotional materials and other communication channels. Will develop content in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Responsible for updating the communications teams social media/event tracker and managing software for tracking internal project requests. Assists with content and strategy for library social media channels.
3. Writes and produces clear engaging and accurate content for various platforms and materials. Demonstrates strong editing and grammar skills ability to write for different audiences and adapting tone/style by following the Associated Press (AP) stylebook and Mesa County Libraries style guide.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
1. Coordinates relationships and projects with vendors for printing signage and other communications-related materials.
2. Participates in interdepartmental teams to coordinate the creation of various communications and marketing materials for library events programs and campaigns.
3. Plans shoots and produces video/photography promotions of library events and subjects; maintains a well-organized archive of photos available for marketing purposes. Supports the development and implementation of library-produced media at the direction of the Senior Communications Manager.
4. Trains library staff on communication-related topics and software relevant to library events and services.
5. Assists in supporting and maintaining the librarys brand.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Combination of four years experience and/or education in a related field in Communications Public Relations or Marketing.
Education can include college or vocational or technical training.
