Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Nursing Director or The Assistant Director Nursing Education and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital the Continuing Education Instructor is responsible for: acting as a clinical educational resource for nursing unit personnel; facilitating the learning process and evaluating learning outcome; planning coordinating and in conjunction with the Nursing Director evaluating unit specific orientation programs; participating in educational activities within the specific Department the Patient Care Portfolio and throughout the Hospital; and performing other related duties as required/assigned.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years recent N.I.C.U. nursing experience required.
  • Experience in education program planning is an asset.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider Level certification required.
  • Current NRP Instructor status preferred.

NOTE: Successful completion of the BLS Instructor Certificate will be obtained at a time scheduled by the employer or at a time mutually agreed upon between the nurse and the employer required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software including word processing e-mail PowerPoint and internet applications is required.

  1.
