We are looking for a skilled detail oriented Health Care Professional with long-term care experience for the role of Facilities Surveyor this role you will be an integral part of our Public Health Division by performing state and federal surveys of long-term care facilities to ensure compliance with both state and federal regulations.

As a Facilities Surveyor Consultant you will:
- Perform state and federal surveys of long-term care facilities including interviews.
- Record reviews and observations of resident cares - feeding bathing grooming medication administration meal preparation serving of meals donning and doffing of PPE infection control practices wound care and treatment transfers respiratory treatments peri and incontinence cares and all other aspects of the skilled nursing facility to ensure compliance with both state and federal regulations.
Hiring Rate: $30.678 per hour Non-Exempt
Dress Attire: Business Casual
Work Schedule: Irregular hours typically Monday Thursday
Location: Lincoln Nebraska State Office Building
Driving Required
Please note:
- This position requires frequent overnight travel - at least 2 weeks per month.
- This position also requires occasional weekend/alternate or off-hour surveys.
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts travel in a car for up to 2 hours per day.
- Must be able to carry a laptop or tablet computer and perform and document observations of wound care dining services kitchen services infection control etc.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: License certification or registration as an environmental health specialist dietitian licensed practical nurse registered nurse or Bachelors degree in gerontology a behavioral health field or a related health field and experience in a health care facility/service.
Legal Requirements:
Positions located in the Public Health Division conduct surveys and investigations of health care facilities or services identified in the Health Care Facility Licensure Act Neb. Rev. Stat. 71-401 to 71-465 and other certified facility types as assigned. These positions are required to:
- Meet the Federal Surveyor Qualification Standards outlined in the State Operations Manual at 4009(B) which requires the person to qualify for one of the following Health Care Professions: hospital or nursing home administrator industrial hygienist; laboratory or medical technologist; bacteriologist; microbiologist; chemist; medical records librarian; nurse; nutritionist; pharmacist; physical therapist ; physician; Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional; sanitarian; or social worker.
- Successfully complete the surveyor training course prescribed and conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in the program types assigned prior to attaining permanent status.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in Long Term Care.
Other:
- Valid drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
- Position requires frequent day/overnight travel - May work irregular hours to accomplish surveys.
- Must be able to work at least one weekend/Sunday shift per quarter as required.
