Job Description
Job Summary
Tutors help with any stage of the writing process on writing assignments for any college course. Examples of content tutors assist with include brainstorming organization vocabulary audience awareness/tone formatting paragraph development MLA / APA formatting logistics of researching and editing. This list is not exhaustive.
Essential Functions
Actively engage with students in the tutoring process Help students learn to recognize their own errors and make improvements Interact with students on an individual basis or in a group Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to move around the room to assist students Manual dexterity
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent 12 hours of college credit completed with a 3.0 or higher overall G.P.A Must have completed English 1301 or English 1302 with an A Knowledge of computers/Canvas Understanding of Word formatting and MLA format Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in a group Ability to speak and write clearly in English
