Description

Georgia Military College Main Campus announces the immediate opening for a Deputy Commandant (DC) reporting directly to the Commandant of Cadets. The DC is the primary assistant to the Commandant in the execution of all Corps of Cadet operations other than academic addition to cadet operations the DC spearheads the recruiting efforts for the Corps of Cadets to include communication and outreach to advertise the institutions unique program for early commissioning state service scholarships and military academy scholars. This individual is responsible for the implementation of the Corps Civic Leader Program and coordinates with other members of the Milledgeville staff to ensure cadets are administratively qualified to attend GMC. The DC works with the Main (Milledgeville) Campus AVP for College Academics to ensure facilities and resources are available to support the colleges academic mission determine if cadets are eligible to participate in select cadet academic programs and coordinates campus and community activities and functions in non-academic areas. Additional areas of responsibility include strategic planning enrollment management managing cadet academic progress oversight of the Corps of Cadets website and social media fundraising and endowed scholarships Federal Work Study program cadet sponsorship program be prepared to participate in the Corps of Cadets physical fitness program (with prior coordination) be prepared to work weekends as required (with prior coordination) and other tasks as assigned by the Commandant of Cadets.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and manage recruitment strategies to recruit/retain cadets into all of the Corps of Cadets cadet programs; Oversee the Cadet Admissions Recruiter to ensure the Corps meets cadet annual mission requirements.
  • Manage the GMC Corps of Cadets website and social media platforms to keep all members of the GMC team and public updated on the Corps and work with the communications team to develop strategies to tell GMCs story and market cadet programs.
  • Work with Operations Officer to manage the Tactical Officers to ensure all Corps training and administrative programs are operating efficiently and in accordance with Corps policies.
  • Work with Commandant Manager/Coordinator to develop community service/fundraising opportunities and manage the Cadet Endowed Scholarship Program.
  • Assist on the execution of the Corps of Cadets disciplinary program to ensure standards are maintained and cadets engaged in the process.
  • Develop track and analyze cadet statistical data to identify trends and pathways to improve performance and efficiencies within the Corps.
  • Assist Operations Officer with academy scholars progress through their application process and ensure all administrative timelines are being met.
  • Work with members of the Milledgeville team to ensure all cadets are administratively qualified to attend/remain at GMC.
  • Prepare and brief GMC senior leaders distinguished visitors large groups and critical stakeholders on GMC the Corps of Cadets and cadet programs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Masters degree; or five to eight years of prior similar operational management experience.
  • Wear military uniforms or Service equivalent on a daily basis.
  • Prior military experience with honorable discharge.
  • Proficient in the use of information technology and business systems including Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

  • Military experience with command time at the battalion level. Experience with Army ROTC Cadet Command Service Academies or National Guard a plus.
  • Experience recruiting/admissions management experience at the college level or within a realm that would be pertinent to specifically recruit for the Corps of Cadets.
