Sr Software Development Engineer, Identity Security & Abuse Prevention

This team dives deep into security technologies and continuously raises the security bar across Amazons Stores Devices and Other (CDO) by tackling complex engineering problems that require widespread support and multi-year execution plans. In this role you will discover define and solve challenging problems across multiple teams and locations. Youll be surrounded by people who are smart passionate about cloud computing and believe that world-class service is critical to customer success. You will also create scalable engineering systems and solutions using cloud computing. Successful candidates for this position will have strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures object-oriented design and algorithms) experience in full-stack development a well-honed arsenal of software architecture and design patterns and a demonstrated competence in designing reusable maintainable and performant software written in a modern high-level language (Java Python C C# Objective-C JavaScript).

You will be a champion for engineering and operational excellence. You will also demonstrate the ability to adapt to changing business and technical environments and devising creative solutions to vexing software problems. The ability to crisply and concisely communicate orally and in writing to engineers and executives alike is essential.

Key job responsibilities
- Design and build reusable maintainable and performant software consistent with Amazon standard technologies (Java JavaScript React SOA AWS etc. ).
- Adopt best practices in software engineering: Design testing version control documentation build deployment and operations.
- Excel in Dev-Ops along with development.
- Solve problems at their root stepping back to understand the broader context.
- Build good working relationships within the team and with others across Amazon.
- Follow Scrum and other agile methods to deliver the most important features to the customer first.
- Design and build authentication and authorization services to secure applications and services at scale.

- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

- 5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
