Join Our Team as a Broadcast Engineer!
Alpha Media is searching for a talented and dedicated Engineer to support our Alphaowned stations in the Louisville Kentucky market. We need someone with extensive knowledge of radio broadcasting technical systems and equipment as well as a firm grasp of FCC regulations to ensure reliable and high-quality audio transmission. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure devises creative solutions and approaches every challenge with resourcefulness and diligence. This role requires excellent communication skills to work effectively with vendors and nontechnical coworkers.
Youll be part of the engineering team that keeps our Louisville stations running strong: WDJX (99.7FM) WGZBFM (96.5FM B96.5) WMJM (Magic101.3) WXMA (102.3FM TheRose) and WGHL (Alt105.1).
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Compliance with FCC regulations and station policies regarding broadcasting standards.
- Maintenance of safety protocols in all engineering practices.
- Regular inspection and maintenance of broadcasting equipment including transmitters audio consoles and studio gear. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on all technical systems.
- Monitoring of audio quality and signal strength during radio broadcasts and the ability to quickly troubleshoot as needed.
- Under the direction of Corporate IT complete all necessary procedures and paperwork relating to the market computer systems needs.
- Overseeing the installation of new equipment and technologies. Including the planning and implementation of upgrades to existing systems.
- Clear professional and productive communication with employees who do not have technical or programming backgrounds.
- Development of clear instructions relating to simple tasks for non-technical employees to understand and perform.
- Maintaining accurate equipment inventory maintenance logs and technical schematics. This includes the preparation of reports relating to technical issues and solutions as they arise.
Requirements of this position include the following:
- A minimum of two years of radio broadcasting engineering experience.
- Knowledge of FCC Regulations.
- This position requires a fully insured personal vehicle and a valid drivers license.
- Available to travel to various market locations and tower sites. The candidate is required to provide a safe driving record covering the past three years.
- Must be able to develop collaborative relationships with market staff so that market staff can help troubleshoot effectively when an engineer is off-site.
- Available to be on call for emergencies and be proactive about coverage when unavailable.
