Job Description

Job Summary:

The staff member under the supervision of the program physician and/or the physical therapist demonstrates an ability to perform the following functions: prevention assessment treatment (including first aid) and reconditioning of injuries. The staff member will assist the sports medicine physician at sports medicine clinics at all sites within Lurie Childrens where they occur.

Job Duties:

  • Functions as an effective member of the health care team by collaborating appropriately withfamilies physicians other rehabilitation staff nurses and others within the organization.

  • Complies with the professional code of ethics/standards and abides by current state and federal laws.

  • Under the supervision of the physician and/or physical therapist demonstrates an ability toperform the following functions: prevention assessment treatment (including first aid) castingbrace fitting and reconditioning of injuries.

  • Independently and safely covers assigned community outreach events for the Institute for SportsMedicine at multiple sites in Chicago and suburbs.

  • Performs prescribed treatments and recommendations made by the physician and/or the physicaltherapist.

  • Integrates into the delivery of patient care the needs of neonatal infant toddler pre-schoolschool-age adolescent and adult patients in regards to their growth and development process.

  • Participates in the Knee Injury Prevention Program (KIPP) and serves as an instructor withguidance from the Sports Medicine Coordinator as needed.

  • Assists with related research activities as requested.

  • Assists the Sports Medicine Coordinator as directed in the growth and development of the Institutefor Sports Medicine.

  • Supervises and instructs affiliating students while providing feedback to the Rehab ServiceEducation Coordinator.

  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of bachelors degree in health related field with current NATA Board of Certification Inc. certification.

  • Current ATC License in the State of Illinois.

  • Three to five years experience in athletic training setting preferred.

  • Experience in casting orthopaedic injuries such as fractures preferred but not required.

  • Certification in CPR from the American Heart Association by having completed the Healthcare Provider Course.

$46280.00-$75670.40 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
