About the Opportunity
An Australian-owned engineering company is expanding its marine operations into French Polynesia and is seeking two experienced Marine Mechanics to support the launch of a critical service hub in Papeete Tahiti.
Youll begin by overhauling two large catamarans (150-foot and 60-foot) then transition into ongoing maintenance and mechanical support for a fleet of 100m luxury yachts and commercial vessels based throughout the region.
This is a 12-month contract with long-term and permanent opportunities for those wanting to live and work in Tahiti. If youre looking for a sea change meaningful work and a career-defining adventure this is it.
Conduct full rebuilds and recommissioning of two catamarans
Deliver mechanical servicing for luxury and commercial vessels across the region
Diagnose and repair diesel inboards hydraulics fuel cooling and electrical systems
Travel to different marinas and moorings to complete on-site repairs
Work closely with vessel owners captains and crew many of whom speak French
Be available for emergency weekend callouts on a rotating schedule
Marine Mechanic Diesel Fitter or Heavy Equipment Technician with marine crossover
At least 5 years post-trade experience with strong mechanical diagnostics
Able to work autonomously and manage rebuild projects end-to-end
Effective communicator with patience and cultural awareness
French-speaking skills highly desirable
Must hold a valid passport and be prepared to relocate
Available to commence by late September 2025
$170000 AUD salary 12% super
Paid return flights to Tahiti
2x return flights home each year

Papeete is the capital of Tahitia stunning island in the South Pacific with a thriving marine culture volcanic mountains and turquoise lagoons. With little local mechanical support this role is mission-critical. Youll be part of launching a long-overdue marine servicing presence in one of the worlds most beautiful locations.
Interviews commence this week and throughout August.
Start date is late September 2025.
