Acoustic Signal Processing Engineer (fulltime or consultant)

The Acoustics team develops hearing protection communication noise reduction and ultrasound devices and systems for a wide variety of military and commercial applications. The group also specializes in acoustic data acquisition and analysis and works on an array of other acoustic applications including underwater acoustics vibrational systems and simulation and modeling.

Requirement Summary

Our Acoustics & Simulation Group is seeking a signal processing engineer to be part of a multi-disciplinary team working on projects that span a wide range of research areas. The work will vary and encompass commercial military or medical technology projects. Innovation and problem solving will be a major part of your position along with the ability to work productively with a diverse team of researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems
  • Performing experiments in an independent & inventive manner
  • Serve both as an individual contributor and lead a project team
  • Take ownership of project success and maintain customer relationships
  • Identify and manage project schedules and risks
  • Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
  • Documenting project progress

Desired Qualifications

  • Adaptability: broad interest in science and technology with a willingness and interest in expanding into new fields and learning new techniques and skills
  • Experience with phased-array processing and array design
  • Experience in Active Noise Reduction (ANR) OR Active Noise Cancelation (ANC).
  • Knowledge of adaptive filtering / statistical signal processing
  • Experience with acoustic testing data acquisitions and data analysis.
  • Experience with embedded DSP system design
  • Knowledge of Mathematical Modeling of Physical systems and background in statistics or information theory is a plus
  • Excellent writing skill

Education/Experience

  • MS degree in Engineering Physics Mathematics or closely related field. PhD degree is a plus (but not a requirement)
  • 5 years of experience with listed qualifications.
