    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Masters degree from accredited four-year college or university
    2. Special education teaching certificate with an ED or Behavioral endorsement preferred
    3. Minimum of three years experience with behavior disorder and emotionally disturbed population
    4. Experience in conducting in-services and training for staff.
    5. Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    1. Knowledge of current special education law.
    2. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills
    3. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
    4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    5. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
    6. Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills
    7. Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
    8. Knowledge of accepted behavior management techniques and practices working with persons with disabilities.
    9. Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications word processing data management and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
    10. Ability to operate standard office equipment and database software programs.
    11. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
    12. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community members.
    13. Utilize with fidelity the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
    14. Empathy patience and a genuine passion for working with students with disabilities.
    15. Ability to understand and maintain students and parents rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
    16. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
    17. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policies including mandatory reporting procedures.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. To assist students and parents in the utilization of successful behavior management techniques.
    2. To provide leadership instruction and support for staff working with behavioral at-risk population.
    3. Consult with teachers on behavior interventions strategies and procedures.
    4. In-service and train staff to write behavioral plans compliant with IDEA 1997 regulations.
    5. Serve on building-level discipline committees.
    6. Conduct district in-services on classroom management functional behavior assessment and special education regulations.
    7. Assist in completing functional assessments of students requiring a behavior plan.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to reach with hands and arms sit stand walk stoop and bend as necessary. The employee maylift carry push pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens and use the telephone.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor school building and office environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents students staff and the public.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) reports to the Director of Exceptional Student Services. The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
