The Folsom Parks & Recreation Department is currently recruiting for one (1) CAVE Teen Center Site Leader to join theCommunity & Cultural Services Division.

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator the CAVE Teen Center Site Leader will be responsible for maintaining the coordination implementation staffing and administration of the Cave Teen Center.

The specific duties of the Site Leader include program development and management participation in staff development and offsite collaborations. They will provide a safe nurturing and well-supervised teen center be the liaison with parents volunteers and visitors to display the site and the program positively. This position is responsible for planning and development of the creative learning environment establishment of interest centers and preparation of needed materials and supplies. A Site Leaders leadership communication and most importantly patience will be required in giving our students the stability and nurturing atmosphere they need to succeed. They are directly responsible for creating a positive and fun atmosphere.

Schedule
  • Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 3:00pm - 6:15pm Thursday 1:30pm - 6:15pm & Friday 3:00pm - 5:45pm
  • Schedule will also support any school district early dismissal days and meetings as required.
  • Duration: position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget.

Pay & Benefits
  • Non-exempt hourly.
  • Temporary Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Note: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.

Examples of Essential Duties

Program Development:


Program Management:
  • Provides staff performance management feedback and timely performance evaluations.
  • Ability to work with develop lead mentor and supervise youth ages 11-14 in small and large groups.
  • Awareness of and adherence to site budget.
  • Maintain comprehensive student and volunteer records and produce reports as required.
  • Takes initiative in researching proposing and implementing new ideas and activities at the teen center.

Minimum Qualifications


Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. some college preferred.

Experience:

Additional Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire date.

License Certificate Registration Requirements:
  • Some positions may require possession of or the ability to obtain and retain a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR Certification.

Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment on a year-round basis. (1) Mobility: frequent performance of heavy manual labor frequent standing walking or driving; frequent climbing reaching bending stooping crawling and squatting. (2) Lifting: frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds. (3) Vision: constant use of overall vision. (4) Dexterity: frequent grasping holding reaching hand/shoulder/elbow movements. (5) Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person. (6) Emotional/Psychological: frequent coworker and public contact; frequent working alone and independent. (7) Environment: frequent exposure to outside elements (sun wind rain); loud noise traffic fumes and other environmental substances.
