Salary Schedule:select MEASalary Schedule at School Counselor will haveknowledge in counseling assessment and instruction as well as skill infacilitating students to become active learners and will provide familystudents and staff services which help promote the education and emotionaldevelopment of students. The SchoolCounselor will have knowledge and skills specific to the developmental statesand social and emotional needs of students and must believe in setting highexpectations for themselves and students.
MinimumQualifications:
- Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate(ESA) certificate with School Counselor endorsement
- Excellentoral and written communication skills
- Successful experience atappropriate grade level preferred
- Experience and/or training withcultural ethnic and language diversity preferred
- Successful Washington StatePatrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
- Proof of Immunization (if born1/1/57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility incompliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- Completion of alldistrict-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

- Knowledgeof counseling instructional and behavioral intervention methods
- Knowledgeof individual and group assessment techniques data gathering and statisticalanalysis
- Knowledgeof current technology and computerized data management systems
- Knowledgeof and ability to access community agencies

Essential Job Functions:

- Providedirect counseling services to students in classroom small groups andindividually
- Keepabreast of current trends in the profession and translate appropriate researchto practical applications in the areas of counseling curriculum instructionand assessment
- Providesconsultation that may include resources training support and modeling ofeffective instructional strategies and methods to special and general educationstaff parents student and others
- Assistbuilding principal and staff in programming and placement of students andmonitoring effectiveness of special services interventions
- Maintaininvolvement with students referred to special services for learning and/orbehavioral difficulties including pre-referral interventions and ProfessionalEvaluation Group (PEG) assessment
- Facilitateinvolved community effectively with staff and parents to create a partnershipof support for children
- Workto facilitate cooperation between the classroom teachers and parents toincrease learning and improve behavioral skills
- Workeffectively and cooperatively with parents teachers administrators andsupport staff and as a team member
- Maintainprofessional competence through in-service education coursework orprofessional growth activities
- Assistfamilies in obtaining appropriate community services which fall outside of theschool or educational setting
- Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regularwork hours
- Professionally interact with students staff and public
- Establish and maintain professional contacts withstudents
