Graduate Assistants (GAs) are graduate students paid to perform job duties relevant to their academic field under the guidance and direction of faculty or program staff to complement and enhance their academic learning.
Graduate School
Compensation: $20892 for 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
*actual salary is based on FTE
Graduate Assistants are salaried and generally work during the academic year and are typically assigned an FTE of .50 or less. Work schedules tend to be flexible.
Graduate Assistants may be eligible to:
Purchase affordable state-sanctioned health and dental insurance if they meet benefit eligibility criteria (optional).
Pay in-state resident tuition rates if they meet additional academic and immigration eligibility requirements.
You applied to a UW Oshkosh graduate program and if accepted in full-standing will start graduate courses during or before the first term you are hired to be a Graduate Assistant.
OR -
You are a current UW Oshkosh graduate student who:
in good academic standing (GPA 3.0 or higher.)
on track to complete your degree within the program completion timeline
enrolled in at least 6 graduate degree credits each semester that you will be a Graduate Assistant.
no In Progress grades for three or more semesters (excluding summers.)
not been suspended from the University and has not been found guilty of academic misconduct.
*Note: F-1 visa holders who accept GA positions may work a maximum of 20 hours per week for all campus jobs combined.
