Job Description

Location: Burns OR preferred. Bend OR may be considered. Expect frequent overnight travel.

The Oregon Riparian Restoration Project Manager will further The Nature Conservancys (TNC) conservation goals by planning and implementing substantial stream and spring restoration projects in close coordination with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and other partners in Southeast Oregon as part of a six-state restoration effort between TNC and the BLM. Some projects will take place in partnership with Oregon Desert Land Trust (ODLT) on or near Trout Creek Ranch which spans the Pueblo and Trout Creek this role you will focus on the complex demands of implementing low-tech process-based restoration projects from initial watershed prioritization to post-implementation monitoring working closely and continuously with BLM ODLT and additional partners to restore high-priority riparian resources.

Together with partners this position will develop the necessary designs permits and clearances to plan riparian restoration projects and select contract with and oversee the work crews used to implement them. Through an active Community of Practice with TNC colleagues from across the West you will co-develop knowledge and expertise to collectively problem solve navigate complex issues and leverage experience and results to help the BLM accomplish its mission managing our public lands. The Oregon Riparian Restoration Project Manager will also organize trainings and foster collaborative efforts to advance a legacy of durable restoration into the future.

This role will at times work under minimal supervision and make independent decisions. This role will also work in variable weather conditions at remote locations on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances. Work hitches of 4-10 days requiring overnight travel and at times camping will be an expectation during implementation season.

This position will report to the Oregon Restoration Project Manager. The position is funded by federal grants for a 3-year term ending in September 2028. This position requires a valid drivers license and compliance withTNCs Auto Safety Program. Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement which may include a review of the prospective employees motor vehicle record.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $62240 - $66130 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidates actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors including for example the candidates location qualifications specific skills and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
