University Police and Security Services is the UW- Stevens Points law enforcement authority operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. The primary goal is the protection of the University its occupants and the surrounding community. University Police operate in a full law enforcement capacity.
This position reports to the University Police Chief. The working title of this position is Emergency Management Specialist. This position is responsible for developing a culture of emergency preparedness and resiliency within the University through prevention mitigation preparedness response and recovery. The Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for the on-going development of the university-wide emergency management program. The program includes the development and revision of emergency operations and continuity of operations plans the implementation and training of the plans program strategic planning providing emergency preparedness information campus trainings planning and assessment of responses to disasters and other emergencies making recommendations for improvement and consulting local state and federal agencies to coordinate campus plans and procedures.

$57280 - $75000 based on qualifications and experience
Bachelors degree or higher.
Demonstrated working knowledge and training in emergency management and response principles and procedures including emergency management planning & training NIMS hazardous material and ICS.
Experience and knowledge of federal and state environmental health and safety regulations (i.e. OSHA EPA DNR DOT WI Dept. of Commerce DHFS etc.)
Understanding of Life Safety Codes and standards from ANSI NFPA NEC etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups campus personnel and external stakeholders.
Self-motivated with strong analytical skills; able to work independently and resolve issues proactively.
Skilled in developing and delivering emergency management training; able to present complex information clearly.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint administration.
Hazardous Materials: Experience with hazardous waste spill response and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) planning.
Physical Requirements: Able to work across campus environments the ability to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment and pass physical assessments.
Ergonomic knowledge and assessment experience and /or education.
Ability to respond to potentially dangerous conditions with proper training and resources.
Licensing: Valid drivers license meeting Wisconsin and UWSA standards.
FEMA related experience.
Work experience in Emergency Management and Planning Occupational Safety and Health Public Health related Physical or Environmental Safety Science Public Safety or a related area.
PPE Required (per UWSP PPE Policy):
Variety of Chemical resistant gloves and clothing
Work Gloves
Safety Glasses and other face protection when necessary.
Safety shoes steel toe slip resistant.
Other as assigned depending on task per policy.
