Accounts Assistant Permanent based in Leighton Buzzard (Hybrid) LU7
Job Purpose:
To support a portfolio of growing businesses by delivering a high-quality fully outsourced finance function. This includes day-to-day bookkeeping VAT payroll management accounts and year-end support. The role goes beyond routine processing requiring proactive problem-solving excellent customer service and a mindset focused on continuous improvement to enhance systems and drive client efficiency and growth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bookkeeping including raising sales invoices Purchase ledger & bank reconciliations
- Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting for small limited companies
- You will proactively identify and implement system and process improvements for clients helping to streamline operations increase efficiency and support their growth.
- VAT Returns & Reconciliation
- Payroll
- Preparing payments runs
- Credit Control
- Performing month end reconciliations of balance sheet control accounts including intercompany & fixed assets
- Preparing and posting accruals and prepayments
- Supporting the finance manager and FD with management accountants and financial analysis.
- Supporting in the preparation of year end accounts and tax returns.
- Supporting the finance manager and FD with financial analysis budgeting forecasts and acquisitions.
Person Specification:
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated and capable of managing time and tasks independently
- Enthusiastic about improving systems and processes
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced digital-first environment
Experience:
- AAT/ACCA/CIMA part qualified is desirable but not essential
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Experience in an accountancy practice is beneficial but not essential
Hours of Work:
- Full-time Monday to Friday: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm
- Flexible working hours may be available following successful completion of probation
- One day work from home (Wednesday) after initial training period
Work Location:
- Based in our Leighton Buzzard office with option to work from home on a Wednesday (after initial training/induction period).
