Job Description Summary

We have an opportunity for a new Industrial Manager to join Thales IAS UK Team who are working on Weapons Systems for Air Defence and Surface attack capabilities for UK and Export Customers (Role based in India)

You will be responsible for assisting the Thales IAS UK based team in the transfer of production maintenance and associated technology and knowledge for specific work packages within an international programme (namely India). These programmes are critical to business winning and project delivery in country.

You will be working within the Thales IAS UK Technology Transfer group to advance the Industrial needs of these critical programmes within Thales Regional Companies supporting the development of and delivery of local solutions through KIP (key industrial partners) within supply chain technology transfer work packages. This will include optimising local supply chain knowledge and maximising product manufacturability by applying and promoting effective co-development and co-manufacture with industrial partners on behalf of Thales IAS UK.

To help implement these core objectives of successful development in India Thales IAS are setting up in country and looking for a candidate that has the following basic knowledge in these typologies of technologies and industrial manufacturing in order to:

  • Assist in the local industrialisation of Indian local supply chains that will ultimately support full-rate production and service entry in country.
  • Be part of the UK IAS team as they deliver key industrial plans in region - including test specifications for in-country manufacturing scenarios where Thales UK IAS retains design authority & holds important Intellectual Property (IP) on the product(s).
  • Work with a strong collaborative approach within the UK IAS team as they look to implement change proposal and solution development in the region alongside Joint Venture partners.
  • Be part of a team driving capability development through local industrialisation product and supplier qualification and product launch.
  • Help understand supplier capabilities and contribute to improvement actions that strengthen procurement strategies in the region including obsolescence.
  • This role requires strong key stakeholder management. Team orientated thinking and a degree of hands-on execution. With focus on cross-functional collaboration to enable the successful localisation and transfer of critical technologies

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Part of UK team that drive Management of Industrial deliverables and manufacturing topics for all Thales IAS product transfers into India.
  • Contribute to the identification and qualification of the greater local supply chain (Industrial partner audit & qualification) for Thales IAS UK.
  • Take part in the Monitor / Reporting & control of local supply chain performance (after entry into production) in conjunction with Thales IAS UK (close co-operation with local procurement network required).
  • Act as the locally based team member part of Thales IAS UK for GTI (Go To India) IAS initiatives.
  • Act as UK Technology Transfer Manager representative under direction for industrialisation topics in ECC work packages where applicable.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Defence industry production line management (EO based products such as rockets missiles or similar)
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework for explosives safety in India such as The Explosives Act of 1884 and the Explosives Rules of 2008 is preferred.
  • Hands on experience on EO production safety EO process engineering Explosive Handling protocols.
  • Understand the requirement for management of supplier performance reporting.
  • Good knowledge of project management processes tools planning & tool set.
  • Experience in industrial transfers preferred.
  • Demonstrate a high level of previous examples of working within a team where efficiency and direction is required.
  • Demonstrated history of willingness to interact with key stakeholders of different cultural religious and race beliefs.
