You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailSeattle Public Utilities (SPU) has two (2) exciting opportunities for experienced Safety Professionals to join the Risk & Quality Assurance Division on a temporary basis. External candidates can be considered for a Short-Term Temporary Senior Safety Specialists (Sr. Safety & Health Specialist-BU)opportunity and/or internal City of Seattle employees can be considered for an Out-of-Class (OOC) Senior Safety Specialist.Selected candidates will support general safety health and environmental functions focusing on construction and industrial hygiene efforts while partnering with leadership and front-line staff. You will work alongside other safety team members to collaborate on projects while also working independently.
These Short-Term Temporary positions are expected to lastbetween 5 and 12 monthsand are open to all qualified candidates. Short-term temporary positions are initially non-benefited and will receive premium pay in lieu of benefits.

Job Responsibilities for these two (2) positions will include:
A.) Working on several key safety initiatives and B.) Supporting safety efforts in our Water Line of Business.
Primary Responsibilities for the Sr. Safety Specialist title for Safety Initiatives:
Confined Space Program Review
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Audit & Procedure Development
Trenching & Excavation Safety Review
Industrial Hygiene Programs
Review and Update Physical Job Demands forms
Safety job responsibilities for Water LOB

Experience: Three (3) years professional experience in safety or health related field
Education:Bachelors degree in Occupational Health Safety Toxicology Industrial Hygiene Biology Engineering or related discipline. (If no degree an additional two (2) years of relevant experience is required.)

The full salary range for this position is $54.28 per hour - $63.19 per hour.
