Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Location: On-site Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
Position Summary:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and forward-thinking EHS professional to take the lead in establishing the environmental health and safety culture for a new metal manufacturing facility. As part of a green field operation this role will shape and implement all aspects of safety and environmental programs from the ground up. The EHS Manager will be responsible for developing comprehensive safety policies ensuring regulatory compliance conducting training leading audits and incident investigations and building a proactive culture of safety across the organization. This individual will partner closely with leadership engineering maintenance and operations to create a safe healthy and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities:Design and implement EHS programs policies and procedures that align with OSHA EPA and industry-specific regulatory standards.
Conduct regular facility audits risk assessments and safety inspections to proactively identify and address hazards.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; recommend and track corrective and preventive actions.
Deliver engaging safety training including new hire onboarding Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) emergency response and job-specific hazards.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies and manage compliance documentation and reporting.
Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics; drive continuous improvement initiatives based on data trends.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Operations Maintenance HR and Engineering-to embed safety in all workflows.
Maintain and manage the safety reporting system safety data sheets (SDS) and related records.
Oversee industrial hygiene monitoring (air quality noise chemical exposure) and implement effective control measures and PPE programs.
Promote a culture of safety accountability and employee engagement through communication recognition and leadership.
A strong personal belief that all injuries are preventable.
Proven track record of leading safety initiatives that reduce incidents and improve workplace safety.
Ability to lead cross-functional root cause investigations and corrective action planning.
Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety Industrial Engineering Environmental Science or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing foundry machining or metals-focused environment.
Deep understanding of OSHA EPA NFPA ANSI and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and educate all levels of an organization.
Preferred certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional) OSHA 30/510 or equivalent.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management systems.
This is a hands-on role requiring frequent presence on the production floor in a heavy manufacturing setting.
Exposure to high temperatures loud noise heavy equipment and sharp or abrasive materials is expected.
Use of PPE is mandatory and strictly enforced.
