Epicentre is looking for an epidemiologist to join the Department of Field Epidemiology and Training (DEIF). The departments activities include operational research projects and support for MSF operations. The epidemiologist will contribute to the design planning implementation and analysis of observational studies. These may include statistical analyses of surveillance data population surveys (mortality nutrition seroprevalence) and cohort studies (non-exhaustive list).
The epidemiologist will also play a key role in scientific publications and in translating research findings into direct operational recommendations for MSF interventions.
What You Bring
- Design and implement research studies to address operational research questions related to MSF interventions.
- Develop and revise study protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and support field teams in their implementation.
- Provide operational support close to the field including organizing and monitoring activities and supporting local recruitment.
- Contribute to data management quality control and database oversight including supervising and supporting data entry teams.
- Conduct data analysis using statistical models (e.g. regression survival analysis time-series analysis) and write reports and scientific publications.
- Collaborate with MSF operational teams to translate research findings into actionable recommendations.
- Provide support to other epidemiologists on the team as needed.
- Facilitate and organize study-related meetings and advisory committees.
- Demonstrate strong skills in preparing and leading remote meetings (advisory support recruitment interviews).
- Integrate into a multidisciplinary multinational and highly motivated team.
- Show interest in collective activities and in promoting research principles involving vulnerable populations.
- Act as a facilitator in Epicentre training sessions for MSF staff as needed.
Qualifications :
Education
- Masters degree university diploma or high-level certification in epidemiology or biostatistics (required).
- A PhD or equivalent is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of proven field epidemiology experience and project coordination including team management and operational research.
- Experience in epidemiological/statistical analysis or modeling.
- Previous experience with MSF and/or Epicentre or another international NGO (preferably in health) is an asset.
Technical and Interpersonal Skills
- Proficiency in analytical tools/software (Kobo STATA QGIS R).
- Experience interacting with Ministries of Health and other partners.
- Strong skills in report and publication writing.
- Excellent organizational project management analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines prioritize tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Languages
- Fluency in French and English (minimum C1 level required).

- Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term full-time
- Location: Paris France with field travel (2 weeks to 2 months)
